On January 17th, 2025, several police agencies in Illinois received many reports of a loud boom or explosion. These are a number of thoughts on what happened. Of course, social media blew up over speculation on the incident.

It's crazy how much people will go on the internet and social media and believe all these insane stories that aren't even close to being true but if the authorities say something it's immediately a lie. Many residents accused the police of holding back the truth.

The police in Illinois contacted factories, businesses, and anywhere else in the area that could have an explosion of that magnitude. All of them came back with no incidents to report. Some residents reported seeing a bright flash on their ring cameras.

Besides the loud boom and bright flash on ring cameras, many witnesses reported the pictures on their walls were moving during the incident. There is one logical explanation for the events. That's an earthquake.
