Illinois’ Stance on Pre-Thanksgiving Christmas Decorations
Can you guess what wins the great holiday debate in Illinois, should you put up your Christmas decorations before or after Thanksgiving?
Illinois Is A Great Place For The Holidays
I believe the state of Illinois is the best place to be for the holidays. The residents really get into it. They go all out each season to make sure it's amazing for everyone. In fact, sometimes they jump the gun with the preparations. It seems like every year, things get rolling earlier and earlier.

My Personal Experience With Christmas Decorations
When I was growing up, my family really got into Christmas. We had a lot of decorations all over our house including two trees. My parents would have them up for a long time. The earliest we ever put them up was the weekend right after Thanksgiving. Nowadays, that's way too late for some people. Personally, I don't like it when holidays overlap. I think they should get their time. Then after, start with the next one. I enjoy Thanksgiving too much to just skip past it. The Christmas decor can wait until after Turkey Day. My question is what do the residents of Illinois think about it?
The Great Illinois Holiday Debate: Christmas Decorations Before Or After Thanksgiving?
I really wanted to find out the answer, so I did what any curious person would do. I conducted a survey on social media. The answer was kind of surprising. Here are the results.
- 52% Christmas Decorations After Thanksgiving
- 28% Christmas Decorations Before Thanksgiving
- 14% No Christmas Decorations
- 6% Undecided
Looks like I side with the majority. Christmas decorations after Thanksgiving. What do you think?
