You know as well as I do that when the weather gets like this, a t-storm or two isn't far behind.

We put the car in the garage, lawn chair get put away, make all the proper "there's a big storm coming" arrangements. But what about your dog, he or she may need some extra care.

I have a unique situation with my dogs. My oldest, named Storm...hates storms. Glued to my hip, follows me everywhere and breathes super heavy.

On the flip side in my seven month old Lemmy. Could care less if there is thunder and lightning.

Do you know how to comfort your dogs if they start freaking out because of the weather?

According to USA TODAY here are 10 Ways to Keep Dogs Calm During Storms

  • Handle it early on in your dog's life.
  • Don't heed advice to let her "sweat it out" or not to "baby" her.
  • Offer treats, cuddling and other good stuff when storms happen.
  • Let him hide — in a crate.
  • Get him away from the noise, and compete with it.
  • Counter the effects of electromagnetism.
  • Desensitize him.
  • Ask your veterinarian about drugs.
  • Natural therapies can work.
  • Consider seeing a board-certified veterinary behaviorist.

What ever you method, make your furry friend a priority during stormy weather and they'll love you even more.
