Looking for something to do with the family this weekend? Don't worry I got your back! As a mother of two girls, I'm always looking for something to do with my kids that won't break the bank. Here's some events going on here in Rockford this weekend.

Scarecrow Harvest Festival at Midway Village Museum - This event takes place Saturday Oct. 7th from 10am - 4pm $7 adults; $5 children (ages 3-17); Free (ages 0-2) Midway Village Museum members are free. They're bringing back Jon the Juggler performing at 1:30 pm. Plus there will be Scarecrow Making, Horse Drawn Wagon Rides, Apple & Pumpkin Games, Several Craft Projects, Scavenger Hunts, Dancing & Storytelling, Historic Cooking Demonstrations, and Antique Farm Demos & More!

Lockwood’s Pumpkin Fest at Lockwood Park - Saturday marks the kick off to pumpkin fest! Otherwise it's Saturdays and Sundays, October 7–29, 2017, plus Columbus Day (10/9/2017). Admission and parking are Free.  Hand-pick your pumpkins, ride a pony or a horse, enjoy homemade pumpkin bars, make your own S’mores, enjoy games, a corn maze, the haunted corn crib, and more.

Annual Red Ribbon Fair at Boylan High School - Saturday Oct. 7th 11am - 3pm This event is entirely FREE! This is a Drug Prevention and Wellness Fun Fair that will have over 30 free games promoting a positive message. You'll also be able to screen a "Be a Buddy...Not a Bully" t-shirt compliments of Yackle T's.

National Fossil Day at the Burpee Museum - Saturday Oct. 7th 10am - 3pm Special Hands-on activities, Local Fossil Collectors & Exhibitors, Screening for Microvertebrates, Fossil IDs (bring your fossils!), Photo Ops on a Jurassic Park Jeep, and Jane's REAL skull on display (a rare treat, hardly ever on display).

Kiwanis FREE day at the Burpee Museum - Sunday Oct. 8th Along with the free admission there will be Featured Guest Speaker: Barbara Williams and
Bats: Beyond the Myths from 2pm-3pm

Nicholas at Night: Art in the Dark Family Night at Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens - Saturday Oct. 7th 7pm - 9:30pm Regular admission rate apply. Along with the Rockford Art Museum create recycled sculptures, draw with light and shadows, play with glowing chalk, and so much more!
