Growing up we only had dogs a couple of times and one was hit by a car and the other we had to find a new home for when we were moving to a place that didn't allow pets. I loved Smokey and Dusty but they were both gone before I had made many memories with either. Though the night Smokey was killed, I had a dream that he had died even though it happened after I went to bed that night. Eerie, but a story for another time with a therapist. For the past five years, I've bragged about my boxer dog Molly. A more beautiful creature I've never seen and like the saying goes, she's the best friend a guy could ask for. Being a dog owner now, I notice dog things a lot more.

I saw this video today of a little girl feeding her obedient group of six pit bulls and I thought it was great. First of all, my Molly is so manic that to get her as disciplined as these guys would a huge task. And I mean if it was just her, not even with a whole group of dogs. I saw this video first on Facebook and was rather surprised by many of the comments from people who were alarmed that this little girl was put in such jeopardy with hungry dogs. Then I remembered the hysteria the term 'pit bull' causes. I don't know, I have never met one that wasn't a complete sweetheart of a dog. I know the reputation, but it has not been my experience. First of all, these dogs were not starving. Hungry for dinner, yes. They also seemed like they graduated from dog boot camp. That little girl knew how to control them! I wouldn't even had been that well behaved.

Making a big deal about this makes as much sense as yelling at people driving past an airport that they were in danger of a plane falling from the sky. Not everybody has the same paranoid fears.

Now if only I can get Molly to sit for one second and watch this:
