Freeport Awarded $500,000 to Blow Stuff up

OK so not REALLY blow stuff up, but to tear buildings down.

Over 50 structures in the past 3 years have been torn down in Freeport.

The most recent being the "Okey Dokey" store downtown. Okey Dokey was a childhood stop for candy and soda.

According to Freeport News Network The Illinois Housing Development Authority announced Freeport is one of 15 cities awarded money with the Blight Reduction Program. This will allow the city to get rid of some more eye sores.
