The Coronado Theatre is my absolute favorite thing about Rockford, and I was lucky enough to get a private tour. The Coronado Theatre in downtown Rockford, opened October 9th of 1927. This amazing building has hosted the likes of:

  • Johnny Cash
  • Guns N Roses (My first time there!)
  • Bob Dylan
  • Frank Sinatra
  • Bob Hope
  • Stevie Ray Vaughn
  • Jerry Seinfield
  • Sammy Davis Jr

There is so much rich history in The Coronado. Not just the legendary talent that has played the building but the amazing architecture. In 1979, the Coronado was added to the National Register of Historic Places. At the dedication ceremony, it was referred to as one of the premiere theaters of its kind in the nation.

Today I received a private tour of The Coronado from Dave Lape, Event Coordinator. I've been luck enough in the past to visit the Green Room/Backstage and some other "restricted" areas. Today's tour was basically wherever I wanted to go, I'm still kinda freaking out. There was so much to see and learn. Here are Five Things you Didn't Know About The Coronado Theatre.
