East State and Alpine Construction Confirms The End Is Near
The busiest intersection in Rockford is getting a makeover, and it appears the end is near.
Construction at the intersections of Alpine and East State has been going on for a while and now there's an end in sight.
At the moment, traffic at the East State and Alpine intersection resembles that of a major city. Cars backed up for blocks going in every direction has caused massive gridlock in and around the area.
According to Tyler Nelson, who is one of the project managers, construction continues with "final surface paving today" while "pavement striping should happen maybe tomorrow afternoon."
Nelson also added an "intermittent lane closure here and there" but "should be wrapped up by the end of the week."
Rejoice! Work at East State and Alpine should be done by the end of the week. How's that for a nice way to kick off the weekend?
