A new survey just revealed which states are the happiest in the country in 2021. Spoiler alert, Illinois isn't very high up on the list. However, we aren't ranked too low either. Funny enough, we landed right smack dab in the middle of the list.

Illinois is the 25th happiest state in the country.

That's according to the new survey put out by WalletHub. So why didn't we rank higher? Well, one graphic from the study definitely shows a good reason why a lot of Illinoisans are unhappy.

So who are the happiest and least happy states? The #1 happiest state is Utah and the least happy state is West Virginia.
