Wow...lets go back 52 Years! We found another old DeKalb, IL video! This highlights Christmas 1963 and more.

Last week we spotlighted an old promotional video for the City of DeKalb that dated back to 1967. This week we turn the clocks back even further to 1963.

Q98.5 has been having a blast spotlighting Stateline smalltowns in our feature called Smalltown Throwdown on Youtube. Sometimes bigger towns were once small towns. DeKalb, is one such town and back in that day the City used to host a Christmas Parade downtown. Santa arrived via helicopter.

Let's travel back 52 years and take a look at DeKalb. 20 minutes of nostalgia from days gone by.

In addition to Christmas, the film documents:

  • The Corn Boil (now known as Cornfest)
  • NIU
  • Downtown parades
  • Ice Skaking
  • Rodeos and Horses
  • and more

You can watch the full 20 minute video HERE.

The documentary video was produced by Clark Cryor. Gary Hiland transferred the 16mm film and posted it to Youtube with the help of DeKalb Video Productions

Christmas will soon come to Rockford on December 5th, Don't miss and evening of family fun at our Night at the North pole event.
