Legendary Def Leppard / Dio guitarist Vivian Campbell announced in June of last year that he was battling Hodgkin's lymphoma, but had updated fans in November with the good news that the cancer had gone into remission. Unfortunately, in a new interview, the shredder has just revealed that his condition has been "coming back again."

Campbell's former bandmate Ronnie James Dio passed away from stomach cancer in 2010, so fans of the late singer's monumental project took the news of Campbell's cancer with an extra sting. The guitarist endured chemotherapy and was forced to make his health struggle public once his hair began falling out.

Due to Campbell once again battling serious health issues, the guitarist will miss Def Leppard's May songwriting sessions. "We're doing this record in installments," Campbell explains in an interview with 98.7 The Gater. "Our next installment is in May in Dublin, Unfortunately, I won't be going there for May, 'cause I've got some medical issues I've gotta take care of before [our summer] tour [with KISS]. But then our third and final installment will be in November, to finish up the record, and we're hoping for a release for early spring 2015."

Campbell then specifically addressed the latest on his cancer battle during the interview. "I'm doing good," begins Campbell. "It [cancer] seems to be, kind of, coming back again. But I'm not concerned about it. I mean, it's just a process. I mean, it always was a little bit touch-and-go. But, you know, it's just a process to get through. I mean, like I said, it's absolutely nothing I'm concerned about, but it's something I need to start the process, I need to get a handle on, so that I am free and clear to tour this summer. So, all good. You know what I mean?!" [via Blabbermouth]

We'd like to send our best wishes to Vivian Campbell. We know you can pull though this! Listen to Campbell's full interview in the audio player below.
