Could there be a new world record roadside attraction near Rockford?

I am not going to lie. I am fascinated by roadside attractions. I think it is because as a kid, my family always took a summer road trip vacation. We would jump in the car and go. Of course, we did have some specific destinations but if we saw something interesting along the way, my dad would stop for us to check it out.

One of my favorites is the World's Tallest Thermometer. It is in Baker, California between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. There are plenty not too far from us here in Rockford. The Bronze Fonz in Milwaukee. The Superman statue in Metropolis, Illinois. Some may even consider the Rockford Symbol one too.

My mom lives in the suburbs, so I make the trip on I-90 all the time to visit her. She does not like driving on the highway, so let us just say I know that road like the back of my hand.

A few weeks ago, I was on my way to her house when I noticed that they changed the name of the Sears Centre off of I-90 in Hoffman Estates. It is currently named Now Arena. The next time I drove by, they had changed all the signs to the new name.

As I was making my way in during the holiday, there was something that really stood out. I just caught a quick glance, so I planned on investigating the area on the way back.

When I was traveling back to Rockford, I pulled over to the side of the road, and there it was. The biggest vitamin bottle I have ever seen in my life. I was not sure what it was all about, so I took a picture and continued on my way.

At home, I hit Google to find out what it all meant. Well, the new name of the building is Now Arena, so what is the deal with the big vitamin bottle.

According to their website, nowfoods.com,

"Since 1968 NOW has been a leader in the natural products industry. Even when healthy foods and natural supplements weren’t mainstream, we’ve never wavered from our mission – to provide value in products and services that empower people to lead healthier lives."

Okay, that makes sense. They are showcasing their product. I like the imagination of the giant bottle as opposed to just a plain old sign. It gives the whole thing a little bit more character.

That got me thinking. I have never seen or heard of this sort of roadside attraction before, so could this be some sort of world record. I know there is a giant catsup bottle in Collinsville, Illinois but is there anything similar to the Now Arena sign?

I started searching around the internet and could not find any records for the world's largest vitamin bottle. That does not mean there aren't any but I like the odds. Somebody call the Guinness Book of Records to check it out.

Next time, you are heading into Chicago on I-90 at route 59, make sure you check it out. It would be hilarious if it became a tourist spot.
