Kyle Long, a first-round draft pick of the Chicago Bears in 2013, announced his plans to step away from the NFL after seven seasons.

Some Chicagoans are probably happy to hear I'm finally stepping away and getting my body right. Some Chicagoans may be sad to hear this.

Most Bears fans would say they were sad to hear the news about Long and his retirement.

Long was named to the Pro Bowl 2013, 2014 and 2015, but his career slowed between 2016 and 2019 where he only played in 30 games.

Nothing definitive has been announced regarding Long's future but he did joke on Twiter, saying he'd love to race in The Mint 400, referred to as "the oldest and toughest off-road race in North America."

Might this be the thing Long is getting his "body right" for or is it something else? Only time will tell.
