I guess maybe when I was younger I enjoyed going to weddings. Back in the day, an open bar hooked me in every time. Those were the days when I liked to party. Once I had a buzz, it didn't matter what was going on.
My wife feels the same way. When we got married, we went to Vegas. Some friends and family came with us. It was chill and a fun time. Then we had a party, not a reception. In my opinion, that was so much better.
I know some people who get highly offended when they're not invited to a wedding. I'm all good with it. That will save the couple some money and they're actually doing me a big favor. Luckily, I'm pretty much through the friends and family in my life getting married.
I'm not afraid to send a "no" RSVP to a wedding nowadays unless it's someone I'm really close to. Here's the funny part. I'm not alone when it comes to that attitude. In fact, it's happening more and more including with the residents of Illinois.
Many people are declining wedding invitations because of the cost. They aren't cheap to attend, especially if you include the pre-ceremony events like engagement parties, and bridal showers, along with bachelor and bachelorette parties. In fact, 56% of people are blowing off weddings of good friends and family. That's a pretty big percentage.
