No parent ever wants to hear that a loaded weapon was on another child at their kid's school, but that's exactly what Beloit School District parents heard the other day.

A teacher found and confiscated the backpack that the loaded gun was in and called the police. After the police investigated the case, they arrested the student's stepfather for leaving a loaded weapon within reach of a child according to WIFR.

The school district also announced the student will be out of class for the foreseeable future, but won't give the age or gender of the student.

Thankfully, no one was injured and until the police conclude their investigation we have no way of knowing the child's intent for bringing the gun to school. Hopefully this is a lesson or reminder for gun owners to make sure they are securely locked and stored away so kids can't get a hold of them.
