The 96 Hours of Caring began with temperatures in the 30's and 40's before the snow took over Monday and created a real 'Winter Wonderland' at Woodman's. All in all, it was another great event that collected money and food for the Rock River Valley Pantry and the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

The work continues at the RRVP and NIFB year round. The Pantry is currently looking for volunteers to help feed Rockford's hungry. If you would like to help, you can call  815-965-2466. You can also donate.

Once again Eagle listeners have humbled us with their generosity, donating thousands of dollars and hundreds of pounds of food. From all of us here at 96.7 The Eagle, we say thanks again to you. I do want to say thanks to the members of the Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club of Northern Illinois Station 53 for their generous donation and year round efforts We also want to thank our partners who make it possible to have such a successful drive:

  • Woodman's Food Market
  • Pepsi
  • Mi-Box Moving and Mobile Storage
  • Ferrell Gas
  • Windsor Auto Sales
  • Trans-Siberian Orchestra

A little background on the TSO connection. Over the past few years the creator and brain behind Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Paul O'Neill has donated nearly $10,000 to the Rock River Valley Pantry and tickets to their one-of-a-kind concerts. He was never asked, he heard about the RRVP and insisted on helping. Another humbling moment for me.

The RRVP alone helps thousands of people every month in Rockford, with over 40% being children. Anyone who has been truly hungry in their life knows what a big deal it is to get help when you need it, and for most of us it is not something that is easy to ask for. Thank you for your help and believe me when I say that 96.7 The Eagle has the greatest listeners. Happy Thanksgiving.
