7-Year Child Collapses At Camp Winnebago, Dies Shortly Thereafter
A young life suddenly came to an end on Tuesday.
WIFR-TV is reporting that 7-year-old Gabriel Russell was at Camp Winnebago when he collapsed as a result of an asthma attack. He was subsequently taken to a local hospital where he died.
Camp Winnebago Officials released a statement:
Our community suffered a tragic loss yesterday with the passing of one of our campers. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the child as we all grieve during this difficult time. We are thankful to the Northwest Fire Protection District emergency responders and chaplains for their support of our staff. As our families share the news with their children, we are here to support their needs. We ask that you please pray for the family and friends of this child and respect their privacy as they mourn such a heartbreaking loss.
Gabriel's family says that Gabriel was:
a little boy that any parent would dream of having. Always listened, used his manners, and loved everyone with all he had to offer.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gabriel's family and friends. A GoFundMe Page has been set up by the family to assist with funeral/memorial and visitation services.
