There are "haunted houses" with employees dressed as Michael Meyers the "Scream" ghost, and the whole "evil" clown thing...But Raven's Grin Inn, in Mt. Carroll Illinois is a true HOUSE, that's haunted.

Raven's Grin Inn isn't your typical, "open in October" haunted house. This is a place that will test you. It will challenge your mind, and make you second guess everything around you...cool, huh?

Here's a description of Raven's Grin Inn from Thrillist:

Have you ever wanted to wander through the mind of a madman? The owner of this haunted nook, the name of Jim Warfield, is mad in all the right ways. He's turned his house -- he does actually live there -- into a maze of his spooky art, prop gags, and a not-so-safe-but-exhilarating three-story slide into the haunted wine cellar. You'll laugh as much as you scream as he guides you through his ever-changing life's work.

I used to go to Raven's Grin Inn when I was in high school...We would load up a van with a bunch of "tough guys" and go get the crap scared out if us. Fast forward to 2016, I went back down to Mt Carroll and did an interview with Jim Warfield, the owner of Raven's Grin Inn, who also LIVES in the house.

Ever meet that "artsy" type that is just odd, but at the same time extremely intelligent? That's Jim Warfield. This is more than a place you should go to get the crap scared out of you, and have nightmares...cuz you will, it's a place that Jim takes pride in, and he gets to show off his "creative" side.

Here's some Q&A with Jim Warfield, owner of "Raven's Grin Inn"

How did your interest in haunted houses start?

I had a haunted house in my parents basement, a lot like Timothy McVeigh did.

How do you come up with all of the ideas inside the house?

I've always had high hopes for it, because I do this for a living. I put a lot of time and a lot of effort into it. All of the idea's are original, one time I did copy an idea from a movie, Young Frankenstein where the guy has his head stuck through a hole in the wall. I tore it out because I didn't want it to be another person's ideas.

Raven's Grin Inn is sixty miles from Rockford, and completely worth the scare...and the trip.
