I have to admit it, I personally do not believe I give Illinois enough credit when it comes to things like inventions and creativity, especially in the world of technology. I picture places like the east coast, California, Europe, or Asia. On my list, Illinois is ranked pretty low.

In 1893, the zipper was invented by Whitcomb Judson in Illinois.

The fashion industry would have to rethink a lot of styles without the zipper. I could not handle all button fly jeans.
