I'm sure you're familiar with that old saying, "stop and smell the roses?" Well, if you ask me, it really should be "stop and look at the fall leaves on the trees."  The leaves on the trees in the Stateline are about to reach their peak colors and if you don't stop and take a look around once in a while, you're going to miss it. (ooh, I sounded like Ferris Bueller there for a second.)

Sure, you can see all the photos that you're friends are posting on Instagram and Facebook, but why not be one of those people? Don't be like me; one of my biggest regrets last fall was taking a motorcycle ride to Lowden State Park and it was too late in the season. We got all the way to the Black Hawk statue to look across the Rock River and half of the leaves were gone.

I won't make that same mistake again this year, and neither should you. Even when I'm cruising along the Rock River, or I'm driving through a residential neighborhood, I slow down just a little bit to look at all the trees.

Try that; just take a drive and take in a deep breath of autumn; try these things too- the 5 things you have to do in Rockford before the pretty leaves are all gone.
