Pumpkin this and pumpkin that, but what does your favorite fall coffee drink do to your body after you drink it?

The Pumpkin Spice Latte. My most favorite thing about fall. Although, since the recipe has changed at Starbucks (they are using real pumpkin instead of fake stuff) it just doesn't quite taste as I remembered it.

None the less, it's my favorite thing about fall.

Everyone was up in arms and swore off soda after reading my How Does Soda Affect Your Body? blog post.

But what exactly happens after you drink a Pumpkin Spice Latte?

According to Yahoo, there are some things that you should be concerned about.

1. Your brain

Turns out I crave the Latte because of its sugary content. there are 12 teaspoons of sugar in one Pumpkin Spice Latte. Research shows that your body's response is similar to someone using serious drugs like heroin. It's addictive!

2. Your pancreas

After 20 minutes, your pancreas begins secreting insulin to help break down the sugar into glucose for your body's cells. This is stored for energy. If your cells already have too much glucose, it will be rejected and turned into fat!

3. Your liver

Your liver has to take care of the 50 grams of sugar which is more than 100 percent of your daily recommended intake. In about a half hour, the liver starts absorbing glucose and creating glycogen which is a stored form of glucose which then... fat. Yup, more fat storage.

4. Your blood

The fat in your blood, triglyceride levels, start increasing in your body. This could even clog a blood vessel. Your triglycerides can be elevated for six hours or more. Having your levels out of whack can lead to plaque build up in your arteries.

5. Your heart

Your blood pressure and pulse will increase about 15 minutes after enjoying a Pumpkin Spice Latte. It will take about 45 minutes to start feeling the caffeine's effects. This caffeine can stay in your system for up to four hours, which could make it difficult to sleep if you have one mid-afternoon.

Although a Pumpkin Spice Latte isn't the best thing in the world for you, experts say it's alright to indulge in moderation.
