8 new benches with artistic flair have been unveiled in Loves Park.

Remember when Chicago had the cows painted and decorated lining their streets? Everyone strolled around Michigan Ave. to catch a glimpse of them. Imagine the beauty of that, but in our own backyard... and you can sit on them.

That's how it felt this afternoon when I put on my walking shoes and took to North 2nd Street in Loves Park. 8 new benches have been updated thanks to the community. I only found eight of them, but I have to say... they are awesome.

Don't mind my friend Michelle's reflection in some of these photos... it was pretty tough to get the benches to pose for the photos.

Bravo Loves Park, this is awesome.

Originally when I went to look for the benches, I was under the impression that there were 13. Deputy Director of Community Development, Steve Thompson, brought to my attention that there are in fact 8 benches! I found them all!

Steve Thompson also commented, "We are planning on doing at least eight more every year until we run out of locations along the bus routes, and as long as funding is still available."
