Can You Spot All The Hidden Messages In Byron, Illinois’ New Massive Mural?
I'm not gonna lie, Rockford artist Lisa Frost is one of my favorite people in this city. Not only is she crazy talented, but her personality is just as joyous as her beautiful art is, and she is such a fun and inspiring person to be around.
For the last few years, Lisa Frost has been a part of GoRockford's CRE8IV art movement, and her work is displayed all over the Rockford area.
Lisa and her daughter Libbie created these two beautiful murals in Rockford's downtown...
And in 2021 Belvidere got treated to some Lisa Frost magic too...
Now in 2022, it's Byron's turn, and Lisa might have just outdone herself on this one.
The Hidden Messages in Byron's New Mural
Since the end of June Lisa Frost and her team of creative artists have been working hard on transforming the side of one building on the Southeast corner of Walnut and 2nd Street in Byron into a massive work of beauty. This mural was done completely with brushwork and it took over 30 gallons of paint to finish! Not only does it feature Byron's beloved Tiger mascot, but it has some pretty powerful messages hiding within it too. Before I share the inspiration behind this new mural, let me first show you the finished work of art Lisa has title "Eye of the Tiger Lily"..
I have often heard Lisa Frost say that her mission in life is "to spread joy throughout the land", and I'm pretty sure she just did that in Byron, but she managed to sprinkle in some motivation too.
That mural may look like an awesome tiger, which represents "strength, courage, and bravery" surrounded by lilies, but look again...what else can you see?
Can you spot 5 little stars throughout the painting? Lisa transformed structural parts of the building into stars that illustrate "doors of opportunity" which the number 5 represents. (It's the same reason why 5 tiger lilies were painted too).
Did you notice the heart above the tiger's eye? There are several more hidden within the mural too, but I haven't found them yet.
Can you see the Rock River running through the mural? I almost missed that awesome addition!
Lisa, my friend, you did an AWESOME job once again, and I hope your message of love, strength, passion, and opportunity is treasured by the Byron community for many years to come! I can't wait to see it in person!
