Women Arrested For Cooking Meth in Illinois Church Basement, Amen.
If you have ever done a church potluck, or ham dinner, or whatever...You've entered a smelly church basement. It usually consists of a bunch of church members cooking all morning to raise a few bucks...Grab a plate and a stale tasting church coffee for $5 and you've done your part. This is a different level of church basement "cooking" complete with cops, meth, and arrested...Can I get an Amen! CBSNEWS
Judith Hemken, of Litchfield, IL and Tiffany Burton, of Hillsboro, IL had a full on meth lab "cooking" in the basement of their church. Waveland Church was the church, and saying it was "their" church was a stretch...The ladies had no affiliation with the church what so ever. They would simply go the the church basement, and cook meth.
Church members became curious and reported a vehicle that would be stopping at the church frequently to cook meth. Cops pulled the car over, arrested her and went to the church to shut down the lab. Well that doesn't help when the offering plate is passed.
While trying to dismantle the church basement meth lab, a fire broke out...No injuries reported, no problems. Just a small church basement meth lab, fire.
Here's the punishment, Hemken's bond was set at $200,000, apparently she was already on probation. Burton's bond was set at $100,000. Can I get an Amen?
