Stranger Things Star Makes Rockford Woman’s Dream Come True At The Emmys
In honor of Season 4 of Stranger Things coming to Netflix in just a few days, I just had to share how I met one of my favorite actors from the show!
In 2018, my friend and I were chosen to attend the Emmy Awards red carpet event. No, I wasn't actually on the red carpet, but we sat in the bleachers where fans could get a glimpse, and potentially pictures, of their favorite TV stars.
Here we are! Man, this was so much fun. Take me back!
Once all the celebrities started walking down the red carpet, I was soooo focused on getting a picture with anybody I could - specifically Hopper from Stranger Things. Hopper, Chief of Police in the show, is portrayed by actor David Harbour.
Obviously I wanted to meet Millie Bobby Brown, but I really didn't think I would be as lucky with her because everybody was yelling for her attention from every angle.
David Harbour was really popular on Twitter and always made fans' dreams come true by meeting them, taking senior photos with them, or even just attending their graduation. All they had to do was reach a certain amount of retweets/shares on Twitter and he'd grant their wish.
I wanted to be that lucky fan someday, but I didn't have high hopes... until this award show. Keep this in mind for later in the story.
Now the cast was making their way toward us and I spotted actor Joe Keery, he plays Steve Harrington in the show. That voluptuous hair of his is to die for!
Then, came actors Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson). I knew at this point Hopper had to be close behind!!!
A girl in the fan section tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Hey, isn't that Hopper right there? He's walking away, now's your chance!" I look over, there he is. Hopper!
So I screamed, "DAVID HARBOUR, HOW MANY RETWEETS FOR A PICTURE WITH ME?" and he jokingly yelled back, "BETTER GET THOSE RETWEETS FAST." I was SPEECHLESS.
He ran back to snap a photo with me and it was a moment I'll never forget. I honestly didn't think he'd run back to the bleachers to take a picture with me.
I also didn't think using the Twitter reference would actually work, but I guess it did!
He was so sweet, I've met a lot of celebrities in my life and David was one of the nicest. I don't know how many others can say they've met their favorite TV stars, but this was a pretty incredible moment in my life that I got to cross off my bucket list.
And that's how I met Hopper from the hit Netflix show Stranger Things! Also if you didn't know, Season 4 comes out this Friday, May 27th, 2022 and there's a NEW pop-up shop in Oak Brook, Illinois that just opened for fans to immerse themselves in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana just like where Stranger Things takes place!
