The Bray Road Beast was reportedly first sighted in 1936.

I follow a Twitter account called @MapPornTweet. It's an awesome account that just tweets out pictures of maps. Old maps, new maps, maps of small towns, maps of entire countries. The account is just maps. They take requests and if they have something you're looking for, they will share it.

They shared this one earlier today and I was intrigued. First I didn't know what a cryptid was. Google was there to help me with that:

Cryptid - An animal (such as Sasquatch or the Loch Ness Monster) that has been claimed to exist but never proven to exist.

So we're talking about fake monsters, ghosts, and the like. I love that stuff. Don't believe any of it, especially the Loch Ness Monster...

Quick side bar on the Loch Ness Monster. Kudos to the town of Loch Ness for creating a little tourist attraction but I can't believe anyone still thinks that one is real. You're looking for a huge dinosaur in a lake. I realize that it's a big lake but there's no way a dinosaur can hide in it for a century.

Anyway, back to the Wisconsin Werewolf.

The Beast of Bray Road was listed as a Wisconsin cryptid and I had never heard of it. Apparently, it's a thing and there was even a movie made about it that was released last year.

Honestly, aside from some laugh out loud dramatizations in the trailer, it looks pretty good.

Here's the origin story according to Wikipedia:

The creature was allegedly first sighted in 1936, In the 1980sm several alleged witnesses reported the beast had made contact with their vehicles, leaving long scratch marks on doors and trunks of vehicles. One witness reported hitting something crossing Bray Road, then exited their vehicle to determine what they had hit, and reported that a large wolf-like creature with red eyes chased her back into her car and left claw marks in the rear passenger door. Sightings also have been reported during daylight hours, with several witnesses stating they observed an unusually large wolf-like creature running on all fours through corn fields.

Pretty scary stuff. Have you ever heard of the Bray Road Beast and are there any more cryptids in the Stateline area? Let us know in the comments.
