A Wisconsin high school is under intense scrutiny after an awards banquet went sideways.

Tremper High School in nearby Kenosha, about two hours from Rockford, allegedly body shamed cheerleaders during an end of season awards banquet.

The incident in question occurred in March of 2018 and now it's starting to get some national attention.

There was the Big Boobie award for the girl with the biggest breasts. The coach giving the award, according to several parents among the 100 people in attendance, made a joke that the girl risked a concussion when she ran because of her “enormous boobs.” There was a Big Booty award for another girl. In a video from the event, held at a local catering hall, the coach presenting the award said: “We love her butt. Everybody loves her butt.

The String Bean award went to a freshman who, as the Tremper cheerleading coach Patti Uttech later told school administrators, 'was so light and skinny.'

The school district along with the principal and cheerleading coaches thought the awards were no big deal.

Uttech believed the awards were "good-natured" and after receiving criticism she said:

We understand that we are in a politically correct world these days, but we do like to have fun and keep thing(s) on the lighter side.

The above was a note she sent to the principal. Of Tremper High School. If there hasn't been a more tone-deaf reaction to something that could scar young people it's a reply like Uttech's.

That's not the end of the story though. One of the parents in attendance at the cheerleading awards banquet attempted to get answers for the treatment of the girls from the school district.

Unsatisfied with the response, the parent reached out to the American Civil Liberties Union (A.C.L.U.) for help.

The mother who initially called the A.C.L.U. to ask for its help said she simply wanted 'these girls to be treated with respect. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.'

The A.C.L.U. wants the coaches disciplined. So far, Tremper High School has yet to take action against Uttech and the assistant coaches. If the school doesn't, there's a chance the A.C.L.U. files a lawsuit against the district.

Until then there is no reason to expect change at Tremper High School. Next month is the yearly awards banquet for the cheerleading team.

This time it's coaches and cheerleaders only. Parents aren't invited. Looks like some things have changed after all. Just not for the better.
