There's nothing worse than buying cheese and being unsure of its quality.

Sure, that's not always the case, but it would help if you knew there was a law that would hold poor cheese and those who make it accountable.

Only in a perfect world, something like this could happen, right?

Believe it or not, there's a crazy law in Wisconsin (it's America's Dairyland after all) that is there just in case cheesemakers can't uphold their end of the bargain.

According to Far & Wide:

Wisconsin is certainly the dairy counter of America, known for producing some of the best cheese in the country. You can blame the well-fed cows, the rolling pastures or maybe even the cheese-making techniques for such delicious cheese, but you may also be interested to know that it is actually the law for Wisconsin cheese to be delicious or, as the legal jargon puts it, “highly delicious.”

The Wisconsin State Legislature says "Wisconsin certified premium grade AA brick and muenster cheese shall be fine, highly pleasing and free from undesirable flavors and odors, except that the cheese may have a very slight feed flavor."

I mean who doesn't want "highly pleasing" cheese? Not sure what that means totally but it seems like the law is saying "just make the cheese taste good."

If that's the case, sign me up. I can eat cheese all day. Probably shouldn't but when it's "free from undesirable flavors" I can't help myself.
