Built in 1943 by the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company and now a designated National Historic Landmark, the USS Cobia is partially submerged outside the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc, about 45 minutes south of Green Bay.
Today, the wartime vessel moored at the mouth of Lake Michigan is the only submarine on Airbnb in North America.
Nicknamed the Sub BnB, the bullet-like time capsule still has its 65 original sailors’ berths, along with modern heating, air conditioning, and working radar equipment.
