When I was growing up, my mom wasn't much of a cook. She could easily make the basics, but my dad did most of the cooking, especially for dinner. That meant we weren't getting any homemade desserts in our house. She could make one hell of a patch of frozen cookies. I liked them, so I'm not going to complain.

Luckily, our neighbors owned a little bakery in town. Their food was so delicious. I remember walking into their shop on a Saturday and enjoying a freshly made donut. We would also pick up some bread, rolls, coffee cake, cookies, and my absolute favorite, cupcakes.

They had such a variety, it was like walking into a new bakery every week. I haven't been to a place like that in a long time. Then, recently, I heard about Jennivee's Bakery in Chicago. They serve over 100 different kinds of cupcakes. All I can say is yum. Now, they've been added to my must-visit list.
