You see the "W" flag at Wrigley Field and at away games after a Cubs win. They are hanging on houses, in store windows, they are everywhere and that's a good thing.

But what is the story behind the "W" flag? According to NBC the tradition of flying the white “W” flag, has been around  since the 1930's. #FlyTheW has become a popular hashtag where fans share their "W" flags.

It the 1930's the people that operated the center field, hand operated scoreboard raised a "W" flag after each win, and a "L" after each loss. In the 80's it was changes to the white flag with the blue "W'.

This is one tradition in Cubs history that I can get behind, and obviously a lot of people feel the same way.
