The Secluded Lagoon Just Outside of Madison You Totally Need to Check Out
When you go on vacation, sometimes it's nice to visit someplace off the beaten path. Heck, you don't even have to go on an official vacation to enjoy a relaxing beach day, and I just found the perfect excuse to do exactly that.
My family will be heading up North for a week-long vacation soon, and our trip will require driving through the Madison area. Thanks to an article I just saw on onlyinyourstate.com, I will now be telling my husband we need to make a pit stop in Verona, Wisconsin which is located just 20 minutes outside of Madison.
Head to Fireman's Park in Verona, Wisconsin for the Perfect Beach Day
Fireman's Park and Beach is home to a secluded swimming lagoon, which has undergone a major glow-up in the past few years.
This swimming hole was once a rock quarry, then it flooded and became a favorite swimming hole for locals. Verona officials then decided to officially turn the space into a legit recreation area, and from the looks of it, they've done an awesome job...
Not only does Fireman's Park and Beach in Verona have a beach and lagoon to swim in, but it also has a splash pad, a large playground, athletic fields, and a sheltered area to enjoy a picnic in. The splash pad is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the lifeguarded-beach is open from Noon to 6 p.m. (There is a small fee to enter the beach area). Make sure to give Fireman's Park and Beach a like on Facebook before heading up to Verona for your next relaxing, beach day.
