Singing karaoke in a smokey room is so much fun. Especially when it smells like cheap perfume.

For a long time I worked as a waitress at a tiny little dive bar. It's the same place I met my husband!

It was the best. My favorite nights were Thursdays because all walks of life would congregate to watch the Q and A Show. It wasn't your average karaoke show, it was the greatest karaoke show of all time.

Q would sing Prince like nobody's business, flipping his pretend hair and dancing around like he owned the place. A was the best counterpart, and their duets would get everyone on their feet cheering for more.

Last time I went to karaoke, I got suckered by my very drunk friend to sing "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett. If you have ever called into the All Request Nooner to ask for a song, you know first hand that my singing voice is terrible. But there is something about being under the lights, mic in hand, that really gets the blood pumping.

It made me think, why is it that I always hear the same songs at karaoke? Probably because they are the songs that everyone knows the words to and that crowd will take over most of the singing.

What's the most over done karaoke song? According to one Karaoke DJ, it's "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey.
