The Five Best Fried Chicken Joints In Rockford According To Yelp

Taking a stroll through the internet this morning I landed on a list of the best fast-food fried chicken in America.

Popeye's took the crown in the story put together by Redbook to which they claimed today is National Fried Chicken Day.

A quick search revealed that today might not actually be National Fried Chicken Day, it looks like it's July 6, but it got me thinking about fried chicken in Rockford.

So I decided to ask Yelp for a little help. Searching for "Fried Chicken" on the popular review website, I got some entertaining results.

First, Mrs. Fisher's Potato Chips was ranked as the 4th best place for fried chicken in Rockford.

While their chips are delicious, Mr's Fisher's (as far as I know) doesn't serve any type of fried chicken dish, so I omitted them from the list. I also had to skip Magpie and Lao Kitchen. Neither restaurant serves fried chicken.

Even more, the best place for fried chicken in Rockford according to Yelp is a place that specializes in burgers.

15th & Chris, 201 15th Avenue, makes some of the tastiest burgers in town and apparently, a pretty great fried chicken. So much so, 15th & Chris is recognized as the best restaurant for fried chicken in Rockford.

I ended up getting the Wrecker combo that came with fries and 2 pieces of fried chicken and he got the first lady as he loves mushroom & swiss burgers. We got take out as it was still chilly out and they don't have a sit-down area inside. Everything was still good by the time we got home. We were definitely blown away by the flavors and the portions for the price we paid!

I've had the burgers at 15th & Chris plenty often and didn't know they had chicken. Guess I'll have to go back. Darn.

The top five also include Mr. C's Family Restaurant, The Machine Shed, Culver's, and Cracker Barrel.
