Clean Up Rockford is an organization that the couple started, and they work hard to make our city look great.

Here is Joe Nepean's story:

I started it because I was tired of seeing all the garbage on my drive home from work.  I want the city to look nice and picking up garbage is an easy way to give back to the community.  Our first cleanup was in March of 2015 and we've tried to do them at least monthly (weather permitting of course) as long as there's no snow on the ground.

Our cleanups have been as few as 10-15 people to as many as 50 (the most recent).  The organizing and planning is usually done by my wife (Kassy Nepean) and me unless we have a sponsor (ComEd sponsored a cleanup last year and World Class Motors did the most recent one).  The garbage bags are for the most part provided by the city and we have purchased the garbage pickers.  Our cleanup totals have ranged from 35 to 55 bags(last year).  This year we've hit some pretty bad spots and our two cleanups this year have yielded totals of 92 and 186, 45 gallon bags of garbage.

Because of this Joe and Kassy Nepean are the May winners of The 96.7 The Eagle Thinks you are Awesome Award.

Thank you Joe and Kassy for all that you do for Rockford!
