A portion of State Street was temporarily closed this morning after a woman jumped from a bridge in downtown Rockford.

According to the Rockford Fire Department, emergency personnel were dispatched to the State Street bridge just before 7:30 a.m. after receiving a report of someone who had jumped from the bridge and landed on the ice below on the Rock River.

The department said rescuers made contact with the woman who said she was injured and unable to move.

Divers used a raft to reach the woman and take her to the shore. She was then transported to Swedish American Hospital by ambulance.

The woman's identification and current condition have not been released.

All lanes have been reopened on the bridge.
