Growing up in the 1970's and '80s there was no shortage of certain cars on the road. You couldn't drive a two blocks without seeing an Oldsmobile Cutlass or Buick Regal, but without a doubt the coolest guys (yes, it was 101% dudes) on the road were those who drove a Pontiac Trans Am.

My next door neighbor had a gold one with T-tops and the big ass bird on the hood. The hood also had a hole in it to allow a monstrous blower to erupt from it's center.

Besides looking cool, the best reason to have a Trans Am was to drive 1,800 miles in twenty-eight hours to escort a truckful of beer. If that sounds strangely familiar, it should. That was also the plot to the second highest grossing film of 1978, "Smoky and the Bandit." Would you like to be as cool as Burt Reynolds? I thought so.

The Mustache is going to have a live and online auction December 11-12, and the car is on the block. According to inquisitr.comReynolds is looking to downsize and simplify his life. There are reports that he really needs the cash, but that's his business. I just want the car! Here's what your bidding on:

  • 1978 black Pontiac Trans Am Burt Reynolds edition
  • Black and gold eagle hood decal
  • Embroidered headrests (embroidered with Bandit's likeness)
  • CB radio
  • License plates that read "BANDT22"

Some of the other things up for auction include:

  • High school football trophies
  • Signed copy of a book of photographs taken by Kenny Rogers
  • Burt's football helmet from The Longest Yard
  • Belt buckles and leather chaps
  • Stetson cowboy hats
The glimmer in Mr. Reynold's eye is not for sale.
