We share a driveway, and sharing the responsibility has never been an issue. I shovel theirs, they shovel ours...It works out pretty darn good. But in the situation where the neighbor that you share with is "not so kind" what are your responsibilities, legally? GiamboLaw

Hopefully the shovels and snow blowers are done for a while...But that grass is begging to be cut, and that will start up soon enough. What are you responsible for as a "good neighbor" when you share a driveway? Those lawn clippings shoot over and cover the driveway, do you just leave it or do you make sure things are taken care of?

What do you need to do legally? Here are some answers:

Generally, a shared driveway is owned by all parties with the section of the driveway a party uses owned by them. However, the maintenance of the entire driveway area should be shared between all parties. - GiamboLaw

You own "your section" but the maintenance is to be shared. That makes total sense, right? Just make sure that you aren't intentionally blocking the other neighbors path. This part should be set up within the title deeds:

All owners of shared driveways are legally obliged to be considerate and not block the driveway from other users. The exact terms related to a shared driveway should be set out within title deeds, with the aim to create fair usage and maintenance requirements. - GiamboLaw

The law states that driveway use should be fair, that is totally of you as a driveway owner and user. That obviously doesn't happen all the time.
