This morning I attended Mrs King's 4th Grade Class at WPES. Both of my boys had her as a teacher years ago. I have still kept in contact with Mrs King and today I made a surprise appearance at her classroom.

Mrs. King likes to have music playing in her classroom as a treat for the students during the day, and I'm her music go to. So when I found out my neighbor had Mrs. King this year, I loaded up her IPod and stopped by to say hi today.

As much fun as I had talking with the students about radio, it really hit me as I was leaving how much work teacher put in. The lesson plans, the scheduling and teaching of each subject, the police work with thirty kids, the overwhelming passion of making sure each kid is getting the best education...Teachers work so hard!

Want to say thank you to your kids teacher, according to Brilliant Insane there are 30 Ways to thank a teacher, these are great. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Write a few letters
  • Donate to a favorite charity
  • Gift cards are easy
  • Nominate your teacher
  • Classroom cleanup
  • Offer your services
  • A scrapbook of favorite moments

Thank you to Mrs King for letting me hang out, and don't worry kids I will tell Steve Shannon you all said hi.
