The "labyrinth" at Womanspace is one of the most peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful places in Rockford. Womanspace-Rockford

Let's start from the beginning with this peaceful area:

The Womanspace labyrinth (walking meditation path), located on the heart of our developing prairie, is open to visitors seven days a week during daylight hours (unless it is being used for private functions). Our labyrinth was created by a very devoted team of volunteers between 2000 and 2002, when it was dedicated as a sacred space, available to anyone seeking quiet and reflection.  - Womanspace

I spoke with Elaine Hirshenberger, who is the Executive Director at Womanspace a few weeks ago, and she was telling me about the labyrinth. I just kept thinking, man would my wife love this. Boy was I right! We visited over the weekend and made the short walk through the wooden trail:

You are guided by what they call "prayer ribbons," if you follow these you will make it back to the labyrinth in no time. The trail is beautiful as well very peaceful and calm, filled with the anticipation of getting to the labyrinth.

In the very center is a rock where people leave items, call it a form or meditation. Leave something in the center that holds meaning to you and then take a seat to reflect.

My wife brought along a couple items that hold sentimental value to the both of us. She placed it on the rock and we relaxed, and thought about the amazing people these items came from.
