Rockford’s Hard Rock Hauls In $8.4 Million In 1st Two Months

It might be a temporary location, but it sure looks like people in and around the Rockford area know where to find it.

Most everyone knows that the full-blown Rockford Hard Rock Casino is being built over the next two years where the Clock Tower Resort formally stood, necessitating the temporary spot on Bell School Road.

Judging by a report from the Illinois Gaming Board, the first two months of operation at the former Giovannis/Alchemy/Legacy building have shown solid growth.

Hard Rock Rockford's December Receipts Slightly Top November's

The temporary Hard Rock Casino here in Rockford opened its doors to the public on November 10th, and if you're like me, you probably know a few people who were counting the days until that happened.

Even if you don't, driving near the location on Bell School Road after the 10th of November gave a pretty good indicator that there were plenty of enthusiastic patrons, as the traffic seemed to increase by a factor of 10.

Hard Rock Rockford's November receipts were $4.1 million.

December, Even Though It's A Busy Month With The Holidays, Managed To Do Better

In their monthly report, the Illinois Gaming Board says that Hard Rock Rockford's casino pulled in $4.3 million in December of last year. Put the two together, and there's your $8.4 million total for their first two months of being in existence.

Like any good Rockfordian, you're probably wondering where some of the money goes. MyStateline.com reports that of December’s totals, $511,000 will go to state taxes and $255,400 to local taxes.

The city said that a portion of the $1.5 million annually will go towards Rockford Promise, which gives RPS 205 students the opportunity to further their education without financial burdens.
