Rockford Still Has Working Payphones; Here’s Where to Find One

When is the last time you saw a payphone...and it worked? I think Adam Levine was the last person who actually used one and that was back in 2012.

Well, if you're feeling a little nostalgic and have a quarter to spare, I found a payphone in Rockford and it actually works; you've probably even used it before, and I can't believe it took me this long to notice it.

Every day after I work I workout at the Y down on Madison and I typically park in the same spot; but because of winter break, the gym has been a little bit busier than normal and I had to park clear on the other side of the lot. That's when I notice it, and think to myself, "holy cow, that's a payphone; I wonder if it works?" Sure enough, I pick up the phone and there's a dial tone; I quickly dig in my pocket for quarter to make a call and it rang right to my boyfriend's voice mail. Call me a nerd, but I thought that was pretty cool.
