Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds, however a thief in Rockford briefly interrupted one postal carrier from getting the job done.

On Tuesday afternoon, a Rockford postal carrier, delivering mail in the area of 9th Street and 5th Avenue was robbed while on duty, delivering the mail.

The incident occurred around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon on Rockford's east side. According to a report by WIFR-TV, The postal carrier, while on route, was approached by a male who demanded the carrier's wallet while implying he had a weapon.

The robber is described as:

as a black man in his 20s wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with red trim, blue True Religion jeans and Timberland boots.

The thief got away with the letter carrier's wallet and police were notified. Police are still looking for the offender. Anyone with information is urged to call Rockford Police.
