Rockford man had to be rescued from the Rock River after stealing a boat.

It doesn't take a lot of brains to commit a crime, but it does to get away with it. The majority of the time it doesn't work out. They would have been better off staying in school to do something better with their lives.

This Rockford guy isn't going to win any academic awards anytime in the near future.

According to mystateline.com,

"Rockford Police responded to the boat docks at Riverview Ice House in reference to a Rockford Fire call, around 7:15 a.m. Saturday morning. A 20-year-old male stole a boat that was docked behind Rock River Towers."

"The suspect had then drifted down the Rock River, but then was stopped short of the Fordham Dam by buoys. The boat was inoperable. "A fisherman heard cries for help and called 911. Rockford Fire responded and was able to safely remove the man from the river."

Where did he think he was going to go with a stolen boat? Apparently, he doesn't understand how a river works.
