Rockford's sky has been filled with a spectacular firework display for 55 years and 2018 will be no different, despite a lack of funds. Co-Chairman Ted O'Donnell told shared the deficit with our friends at Eyewitness News and it's a big number. Adding the cost of the fireworks themselves and other 4th of July necessities, the total is just over $20,000. [WATCH]

It's important to remember everything involving Rockford Fire and Ice (July 4th activities and Festival Lights) is 100% community funded. It would be tragic for our community to lose such a great event that also brings in tourists from hundreds of miles away. But, together, we can stop that from happening. You can also donate while waiting for the downtown 4th of July parade to officially begin, just look for the folks collecting donations.
