A 22-year-veteran of the Rockford Fire Department has changed that, according to WREX.

Rod George saw the need on the northwest side of town and stepped in.

He now rents the former Circles of Learning building and gave it a face-lift. It cost about $40,000 to do all work to the building which included new kitchen appliances and emergency lighting.

"Kidz Will B Kids" is now open.

As of now, there are 20 children currently enrolled with room for many more.

Rod has done a lot of work bringing 'Kidz Will B Kids' to the community, but there are plenty of ways you can help. Rod is accepting monetary donations as well as new or gently used toys to help fill the classroom. Donations can be made at 2907 N. Main Street or call Rod directly at 815-713-6900.
