Something is finally moving into the former Moose Club on North Main in Rockford as Grace Funeral and Cremation has been approved by the city council to take over the location.

Every time I drove by the old Moose Club, I wondered if anyone would ever buy it.

The last time I was there was for a local festival in May of 1996. I thought it was a cool place. There was a bowling alley in the basement.

My nephew goes to Spectrum School and they almost purchased it last year, but it needed too many updates which the school couldn't afford.

I didn't think anyone would be interested in the building, but then I heard good news this week.

According to rrstar.com,

"City Council on Monday night approved a special use permit that will allow Grace Funeral & Cremation Services to move its business to the former Moose Club, 4301 N. Main St."

The local funeral home had outgrown it's current South Alpine location and were looking for a bigger location.

Many clients are looking to have a "Celebration of Life" type of ceremony which requires more space.

Plus, this is a big win for that part of Rockford. Hopefully, more businesses will follow.
