2010 - Ronnie James Dio, former lead singer of Black Sabbath, and his own band Dio, died of stomach cancer. His wife Wendy confirmed the news with a heartfelt message on his official website, saying, "Today my heart is broken."

1987 - U2 had their first number one single in the U.S. with the song "With or Without You."

1974 - Queen's guitarist Brian May collapsed in New York City while the band was on tour and has to be flown back to England. He had contracted hepatitis.

1970 - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young had the number one album with "Deja Vu."

1969 - Pete Townshend was arrested and fined 75 dollars for unknowingly kicking an off-duty policeman offstage during a Who concert.
