2014 - The late Brian Jones, founding guitarist of The Rolling Stones, celebrates his birthday today. He was kicked out of the band in 1969 and replaced by Mick Taylor.

2000 - Stan Penrige, the guy that actually wrote the KISS song "Beth," sued the band, its publishing company and Universal Music. He claimed that he had been cheated out of millions of dollars in publishing royalties.

1996 - The original memebers of KISS appeared at the Grammy Awards. It was the first time the band wore full make up and costumes in 17 years.

1994 - Eric Clapton performed his 100th concert at London's Royal Albert Hall.

1991 - The Record Plant recording studio in Los Angeles closed. The Eagles recorded "Hotel California" there.

1985 - David Byron died at the age of 38 of a heart attack. He was the lead singer of Uriah Heep.

1972 - George and Patti Harrison were injured in a car crash.

1970 - Led Zeppelin played a gig in Copenhagen under the name The Nobs. Eva Von Zeppelin, a relative of the airship designer, threatened to sue if the family name was used in Denmark.

1967 - The Rolling Stones were number one with "Ruby Tuesday."

1966 - The Cavern Club, made famous by The Beatles, closed. It was rebuilt years later at a different location.
