A former Rockford favorite is returning to anchor the morning news on WTVO and WQRF but she has no plans on running for mayor.

When it comes to news anchors in Rockford, viewers have definitely had their favorites through the years. I think Whitney Martin is on that list. She's a local girl too. Whitney worked at WIFR for several years before she took her talents to Milwaukee. She was having success there but family brought her back to the Forest City.

A few years ago, I said, "Whitney Martin is so popular, that she could run for Mayor of Rockford, and win." Somehow a rumor started that she was going to be a candidate for the city's top job. Not sure how that happened, wink wink. I love Social media.

When Martin announced she was returning to Rockford to anchor the morning news on WTVO and WQRF people were excited. There was only one problem. Immediately, citizens were wondering if she was really coming back to take a run at the mayor gig. Posts about it starting appearing on Social Media.

Well, I'm here to set the record straight. I had Whitney on my show to personally make the announcement. If you missed it, check it out now.

Now, it's official and current mayor, Tom McNamara, has nothing to worry about.

Welcome home Whitney, it's great to have you back.
